Fun Facts About Mrs. Gunderson

  • I was born in Turtle Lake, ND, a tiny dot on the map in the middle of the state. My parents, Gary and Judy, continue to live on the farm where my two brothers and I were raised. I did the usual farm stuff growing up: picking rocks, hauling hay, mowing and just helping where needed. My brothers and I also owned and raised a herd of sheep while in high school.
School has always been important to me, and probably explains why I am a teacher. I graduated from high school in a class of 29 and then attended the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND where I got my B.S. in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. I taught kindergarten in Goodrich, ND and first and second grade in Menoken, ND before getting married to my husband, Tom, and moving to Eden Prairie. Shakopee schools have been a part of my life since 1993. In 2000, I earned a Masters degree from St. Mary's in Winona.
Turner  and Tatum keep us busy and entertained. As a family, we love to spend time together: camping, hiking, biking, traveling, watching movies and playing games.
I would organize and lead travel adventures for groups if I wasn't a teacher. What kind of adventures can we have at school this year?
