Dr. Adrea Grocke
Welcome to Mrs. Grocke's home page (Grocke rhymes with hockey)! I am so excited to be teaching at the Shakopee High School, AND to be back in the K-12 setting! I spent the past nine years teaching in the IESE, teacher licensure preparation program at the University of Minnesota Duluth where I mainly taught pre-service teachers how to be special educators in the K-12 setting. This past April I earned my Doctorate in Education, from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, which was a huge accomplishment! Prior to that I spent three years teaching in various special education settings, both the elementary and middle school. I have taught in Wisconsin and Hawaii. I also received a Master's degree in the area of Special Education 2008, and a Bachelor's of Science in Education in 2005; both from the University of Wisconsin-Superior. When it comes to teaching and managing special education case loads, I firmly believe in a strengths based approach. In addition, it is crucial to build positive working relationships with families. The communication and input I receive from the students and their care givers are crucial when writing IEP's. I will do my very best to support each individual student that I work with!
My husband, son, and I just made the move from Duluth, MN to Shakopee June of 2018. We love it here! When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and son at home, or out and around the community.
I look forward to working with you, and having an awesome year!
