Onsite School Age Care

Community Education to Manage School-Age Care Program Starting in Fall 2026

Starting in the 2026–27 school year (Fall 2026), Shakopee Community Education will not only fully manage operations of the K–5 School-Age Care Program currently provided by the YMCA, but they will also manage before/mid/after care services offered at Pearson Early Learning Center for families enrolled in Stepping Stones Preschool.

How to Register for Kindergarten

Now Accepting Students for the 2026-27 School Year!
 
We are pleased to offer the following easy Kindergarten enrollment options for children that will be age 5 by September 1st of the school year the child will enroll in. Translation support is available throughout the process.
 
Online Registration: Click here to access the online enrollment portal
  1. The first step in the electronic process is simply filling out one screen of basic information.
  2. You will then immediately get an email with a link to complete the full online registration form, which takes about 5 minutes if all items are handy; the email will outline resources to have handy. Computers are also available at our Welcome Center and enrollment can be supported by the Welcome Team in-person, Monday - Friday, from 8am - 4pm.
  3. Once a child is enrolled, the Welcome Center team will reach out and discuss your submission, important dates and other helpful details. If transportation is requested, the transportation office will contact you with route information.
Please note, you will need proof of your child's age (i.e.birth certificate or passport), immunization records, name of any previous school(s) and special education information (if applicable).

Free early childhood screenings, which are required before entering Kindergarten, are held at Pearson Early Learning Center (917 Dakota St. S,Shakopee) and available throughout the year on weekdays between 8:30 and 6:00 pm.
