Kristi Peterson, Board Chair
Elected November 2018. Re-elected November 2022. Present term expires January 2027.
Kristi Peterson moved to Shakopee in 1999. She and her husband are the proud parents of a graduate from Shakopee High School.
Kristi graduated from Ellsworth Public School in Ellsworth, Minnesota and attended Augustana University, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications and Journalism. She went on to attend the University of St. Thomas where she earned a Masters Degree in Business Communications.
Kristi has worked in the marketing and communications profession for almost 30 years and is currently employed as a Chief Marketing Officer for a global company.
She has volunteered with various community associations and organizations, including the Shakopee Girls Fastpitch Association, LPGA Amateurs Golf Association and the Salute to Service Womens Golf Classic.
Kristi currently serves as President of the Minnesota School Board Association (MSBA). She also serves as 2nd vice-chair of Scott County Association for Leadership and Efficiency (SCALE). Kristi is also the School Board Chair at Southwest Metro Intermediate School District #288 and is a Board of Director for the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL).
Kristi served on the District’s Excellence and Operations Task Force Committee, Design Committee for the Performance area of the High School and is a member of the Shakopee Education Endowment Foundation (SEEF).
Kristi has been recognized by the Minnesota School Boards Association with the Leadership Development Certificate (2021), Directors Award (2022) and the Presidents Award (2024) which recognize the extensive time and commitment to the Associations school board development and training programs. This recognition showcases Kristi's commitment to the Shakopee School Board, staff, students and the community.
Kristi is an avid sports fan, specifically the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Golden Gophers women's basketball team. She also enjoys golfing in the summer.
