Shakopee Public Schools is aware of the recently reported national cybersecurity incident involving the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS), which is a product of a company named Instructure.

We are waiting to learn more about possible impacts on the specific district data used by Canvas LMS. Canvas LMS does not include student/staff birthdates, household information nor any kind of financial data. The Canvas LMS incident does not impact any other school district systems or the data within these systems.

Our Technology Department is actively working with the Canvas LMS and Instructure teams to better understand the current situation. Until the vendor resolves this issue, course materials and general Canvas LMS access will be unavailable.

Please do not log in or access your account until an official district communication is shared with staff, Grades 5-12 students and families noting next steps.

As we continue to learn more, we will share timely updates. For the latest official information from Instructure, visit status.instructure.com

As a reminder, Friday, May 8 is a no school day for E-12 students; staff will be in session.

Thank you for your patience and partnership.

Sincerely,
Shakopee Public Schools Technology Department
