Shakopee High School Schedule Task Force Recommendation

During the school board's recent learning session, Shakopee Education Association President Dale Anderson and Shakopee High School Assistant Principal Sarah Jordan brought forth a recommendation from the High School Master Schedule Task Force. The task force recommended the board adopt the traditional 4x4 block schedule (four classes per quarter for four quarters a year) for the Academies of Shakopee High School beginning with the 2019-2020 school year.

The High School Master Schedule Task Force was comprised of teacher representatives from grades 9-12, as well as board members and administration from the district. The task force met this spring and worked to come to a recommendation on the future of the schedule at the high school.

They chose a schedule based on the following selection criteria: number of credits, longer class periods, academy teaming during the day, teacher workload and teaching efficiency ratio.

"We felt like this schedule did the best job at matching up with our selection criteria," said Anderson.

It's important to note that this schedule will not be implemented until the 2019-20 school year. Click here to read the entire recommendation.
