E-5 Connect and Assessment Days to be held September 4 & 5

Different than years past, the school district will implement Connect and Assessment Days before the start of this school year. Connect and Assessment Days will be held for elementary students on Tuesday, September 4th and Wednesday, September 5th.

Connect and Assessment Days are not full school days, but are opportunities to meet with your child’s teacher one-on-one to learn about the classroom and the upcoming school year.  It will also be a chance for teachers to do some quick assessments with your child in reading and possibly in math, in order to best meet your child’s needs for the upcoming year.

“I think Connect and Assess days will help our teachers and students connect in a more meaningful way,” said Mitch Perrine, principal at Red Oak Elementary. “Giving our teachers the opportunity to learn what a student’s needs are even before they start school is beneficial. Many times families don’t connect in a 1-on-1 way with teachers until well into the school year at conferences. We look forward to the new year and the new way to start it."

Connect and Assessment Days will replace open houses and the parent information nights this year.

“We want to make sure that families know it’s important to sign up for a time with your school and attend our Connect and Assessment Days,” said Josie Kovisto, principal at Eagle Creek Elementary.

The first full day of school will be Thursday, September 6th for elementary students. Students in grades 6-12 will not participate in Connect and Assessment Days. Their first day of school will be Wednesday, September 5th.

Look for sign-up information from your elementary school.
