Five Shakopee Students Earn Recognition at Minnesota DECA Conference
APRIL 12, 2019 - 30 students from Shakopee participated in the annual Minnesota DECA State Career Development Conference in Minneapolis.
During the school year, approximately 3,500 Minnesota DECA student members take part in the organization’s competitive events program.
They compete in more than 50 events focused on entrepreneurship, finance, hospitality, marketing and other related fields.
The competitions are designed to simulate real-life business scenarios and test students’ academic understanding and skills development. After qualifying earlier this year, district winners put their talents to the test during the State Career Development Conference.
Congratulations to the following students for receiving state recognition:
■ Dan Hunter – Business Services Marketing Series – 3rd
■ Jacqueline Macht – Principles of Finance – 3rd
■ Jacqueline Macht – Financial Consulting – 3rd
■ Himani Joshi – Human Resource Management – 5th
■ Akshay Vankayala – Marketing Communication Series- 5th
■ Visara Sok – Employment Interview - Entry Level – 2nd
The excitement and hard work continues for Dan, Jacqueline, Himani and Akshay. This April, the four students will travel to Orlando, FL to compete with 20,000 top students from around the world at the International Career Development Conference. The event is referred to as the “pinnacle of DECA competition”.
