Shakopee Schools Finance Director Announces Resignation
August 26, 2019 - Jeff Priess has announced his resignation as Director of Finance with Shakopee Public Schools.
Priess brought more than 30 years of finance experience when he joined the district in March of 2018. He had previously worked as a senior consultant for Malloy, Montague Karnowski Radosevich and Co. P.A. During his time with the Minneapolis certified public accounting firm, Priess served as Governmental Auditor for MMKR’s city and school district clients. He also provided Minnesota school district consulting services in the areas of budget projections, tax levy analysis, as well as mentoring and audit preparation.
Prior to joining MMKR, Priess served as the Executive Director of Business Operations for Robbinsdale Area Schools before he retired in August 2016 and the Director of Finance for Farmington Area Schools from 2007 to 2011.
“Our district owes Jeff an incredible debt of gratitude for his work as our Finance Director,” said Superintendent Mike Redmond. “He and his team have worked tirelessly to meet our fund balance goals in FY18 and FY19. They also consistently apply the best practices in terms of budgeting, accounting, and financial management. I, and I’m sure many others in our district, will miss having Jeff as a member of our team.”
Priess’ last day with Shakopee Public Schools will be December 31, 2019.
“We were fortunate to have Jeff on our team for almost two years,” said School Board Chair Reggie Bowerman. “Knowing that he had retired from full time service as a business director in the past, we knew we wouldn’t have him in this position forever. He has done well by our school community and our students. We are grateful and appreciative of his service to our district.”
Superintendent Redmond and the Shakopee School Board will work together to implement a transition plan as well as discuss the next steps to determine who will replace Priess.
