Grace Myler Named One of Minnesota's Top Volunteers
FEBRUARY 7, 2020 – Shakopee High School senior Grace Myler has been named one of the state's top two youth volunteers of 2020 in the 25th annual Prudential Spirit of Community Awards.
In 2016, Grace worked with her mother to start Threads for Teens. The non-profit organization serves girls ages 13-21 who are in foster care, at risk, in homeless situations or come from low-income families.
As a State Honoree, Grace will receive $1,000, an engraved silver medallion, and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C.
Grace, along with the top two honorees from each state in the country, and the District of Columbia, will participate in four days of national recognition events. During the trip, ten students will also be named America's top youth volunteers of 2020.
The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards is sponsored by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP). The award honors middle and high school students nationwide for outstanding volunteer service.
Threads for Teens is located at the Shakopee Public Schools District Office. To learn more or to nominate a teen to receive services, please visit their website.
