Alison Kopseng

Hello and welcome to the wonderful world of art at Sweeney Elementary! I'm excited I get to work with the students here and make some amazing things. I have taught art at both the elementary and secondary levels in Shakopee and in Michigan. I was inspired to become an art teacher after working with my high school pottery teacher and discovering my love of clay and sharing it with others. I am excited to continue my mission of inspiring and motivating students to explore their creativity and to engage in life-long learning and creating.

I'm originally from Northfield, MN, but currently live in Minneapolis. In 2010, I graduated with a degree in Art History from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI, and then went on to earn my Master's in K-12 Visual Arts Education from Bethel University. In my free time, I love to read, travel, camp, garden (plants are the best!), spend time with my nieces and nephews, and making pottery. I'm looking forward to having a fantastic year with you in art!
