I am proud to be the principal of Sweeney Elementary School! My passion for education began while attending school at Zumbrota-Mazeppa Public Schools. I often found myself volunteering for programs that worked with younger students academically and athletically. After High School, I attended Minnesota State University, Mankato where I majored in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Middle School Mathematics. I began my teaching career in the Farmington School District where I spent 8 years teaching Fifth Grade. During that time, I earned a Masters Degree in Teaching and Learning and a Specialist Degree in Educational Administration from St. Mary's University. After leaving the classroom, I spend 5 years as the Principal of Cannon Falls Elementary School in Cannon Falls, MN.
I live in Lakeville with my wife, Lindsay, and my 3 girls (Madilynn, Myla and Macy). Lindsay teaches Third grade in Farmington School District. We enjoy spending as much time as we can with our girls! We love going to parks, playing outside, and being silly with each other. I also enjoy reading (mainly children's books!), golfing, billiards, and spending time with friends.
I am proud to be a part of the Shakopee School District and look forward to working with the amazing people who work in and attend Shakopee Schools.

    Dean of Students

Greetings! I am thrilled to be the Dean of Students at Sweeney Elementary School. I have been in education for over 24 years, wearing many "hats". Prior to Shakopee, I worked for Minnetonka Public Schools in the roles of classroom teacher, Teacher Instructional Coach, New Teacher Specialist, Assistant to the Principal, and 504 Coordinator.

I grew up in Redwood Falls, a small town in southwestern Minnesota. My undergraduate work was done at Gustavus Adolphus College, and I have a Masters in Education from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota as well as an Education Specialist degree from the University of St. Thomas. I now live in West Bloomington. In my free time I enjoy swimming laps at the community center, practicing yoga, participating in music groups, and spending time at our family lake home on Lake Ada in northern Minnesota.

Sweeney is amazing! I feel extremely fortunate to be a part of such a talented and enthusiastic learning community. I am looking forward to making this year at Sweeney the best yet for you and your child. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions, concerns or delights.

I am proud to be a part of Saber Nation, where every day is a great day to be a Saber!
