Welcome to Sun Path Elementary School. My name is Patrick Leonard, Principal of Sun Path. I have been in public education since 1991, all in Shakopee. The last eleven years I have been the Principal at Sun Path. Prior to becoming the Principal at Sun Path, I was the School Social Worker/Due Process Facilitator at Sweeney Elementary.
I grew up in Brooklyn Center. I have lived in Shakopee with my wife and children since 1991. My two sons had a great experience as they went through the Shakopee Schools. They are both recent graduates of Shakopee High School (2010 & 2012). I enjoy spending my free time up north with my family, fishing and hunting. I also enjoy watching Minnesota and Shakopee sports.
I earned my Principal Certification through Minnesota State-Mankato. I received my Masters in social work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and my Bachelors Degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota. Yes, I am a big Gopher and Badger fan!
As the Principal at Sun Path Elementary, I believe it is important for our students to have a safe, fun and academically challenging environment, where each student enjoys learning and work to reach their potential. I am fortunate to work with a great staff, supportive parents, and the best students around. I encourage parents to be involved in their child’s education. Volunteering in the school and being an active member in our PTO are two ways parents can be involved.
