LISTENING TO THE PROS
The more you listen, the better you will sound, so listen everyday if you want to be great at your instrument!
I highly encourage band students to find recordings of professionals playing their instrument and listen to them as often as possible (could be easily done in the car!). It is important for students to frequently hear a professional model of tone for their instrument so they can internalize the sound and then imitate it as best they can. (Band parents also tend to be happier when they hear pleasant tones coming from their child’s instrument! :) ).
Recommended artists are listed below. The links below are meant to be a starting place. Please explore these artists on your own. Recordings from the public library, websites like youtube (with parent pre-screening of course!), or online music sources are some great places to find recordings.
YOU MUST HAVE YOUR PARENTS PREVIEW THESE LINKS FIRST AND GIVE YOU PERMISSION BEFORE VISITING YOU TUBE! I cannot control the comments people post online. :)
