Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE)

ECFE
  • Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is a program for parents/guardians and their children from birth thru age four. Our mission is to provide quality learning opportunities and resources for all families in our district. Contrary to the belief that raising children comes naturally, there is growing recognition that being a parent/guardian is extremely demanding. ECFE recognizes that parents/guardians are children’s first and most significant teachers. It is our mission to strengthen families and enhance the ability of caregivers to provide the best environment for the healthy growth and development of their children. Please join us and other parents/guardians in supporting our district’s youngest learners in preparing them for school success.

  • Weekly classes: Pearson Early Learning Center ECFE offers classes during the day, evenings and Saturday mornings. Traditional ECFE classes are for parents with children birth through age four. All classes include a parent/child interaction time, and a parenting session.

For Parents Only: ECFE offers special class opportunities because we recognize the diversity of needs and concerns parents may have. Parent/guardian only classes are topic related and do not include a parent/child interaction time. Children are welcome to attend our sibling care room for most parent/guardian only classes.

Family Literacy: The Family Literacy program is collaboration between Shakopee Public Schools, ECFE and Adult Basic Education. Parents/Guardians who are learning English as a second language, finishing their high school degree or working on improving their work skills may attend adult classes while their children participate in an Early Childhood program. Parents also participate weekly in parenting classes.

Special Events: These special events may include community events such as Family Fun Nights, Baby Shower and more.
