National Junior Honor Society

  • NJHS is a co-curricular activity that supports the educational goals of the Junior High. It is a nationally recognized program that provides its members with a significant opportunity to gain learning experiences in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship and character. A selection opportunity occurs in February for 7th - 8th graders who have been in the school for at least one semester.

Students must be 7th - 9th graders who have a cumulative GPA of 3.75, have performed at least 10 hours of community service, and have been enrolled in the East Junior High for 1 semester.

Students are invited to fill out an application if they have met the requirements. Invitations will be sent out to students who have met GPA requirement to fill out a selection form. This selection form should be turned in to Ms. Hall at the West Junior High School.

Their selection forms are reviewed by the five-member faculty advisory board, and they are informed by mail if they have been selected. They are then invited to participate in the induction ceremony.

The group does several service projects during the year. The NJHS members are called upon by staff and students to assist in various projects and are seen as a leadership group of the school.
