Allow me to take a moment to introduce myself and share my excitement for the school year. My name is Jim Miklausich, and I am the East Middle School Principal. It is exciting for me to be a partner in educating your child. I feel fortunate to be a part of a school culture focused on student learning, high expectations, and collaboration. It is my intention to carry on these important traditions and practices.

Personally, I was a teacher for thirteen years. I learned in the classroom how important relationships are and the need to connect with students and parents on a personal level. For four years, I was the principal at Richardson Elementary in North St. Paul.  Relationships and connections were the key to our school’s success. I look forward to getting to know East’s students and families.

I hope you know how important you are to us. We love it when you stop by school, give us a call, or attend a conference. When these things aren't possible, ask your son or daughter what he or she remembers from their school day and let them know that it is important to you.

My goal as the Principal is to meet your needs. I want to be available to listen to what we are doing right and hear where we need to improve. While we will never be perfect, we are committed to continuous improvement. Please know that you and your thoughts are always welcome in our school. I encourage you to stay in touch with your child's teachers and with me.
