• Central Family Center- Bucket Filling: Pyramid Model Initiative
During the month of February, Central Family Center participated in a building-wide celebration as part of our Pyramid Model initiative.  This celebration is centered around the idea of "bucket filling"

    What is Bucket Filling?
Actions or words that show that you care about someone. Saying or doing something kind. Giving someone a heartfelt smile. Using names with respect. Helping without being asked. Giving sincere compliments. Showing respect to others There are hundreds of wonderful ways to fill buckets. The language of bucket filling has become synonymous with being kind and thoughtful. Your bucket will be filled when, at the close of each day, you reflect on the ways in which you have filled buckets.

Classrooms received “Bucket Filling Kits” which included: Reading a book to help explain the bucket filling concept, handouts to use in class and to print for families to utilize at home, a small container and pom-poms to keep track of all the “Bucket Filling” events (words, gestures) as a visual (for every bucket filling behavior observed, one pom-pom was added to classroom buckets).

The language of bucket filling has become synonymous with being kind and thoughtful. The big and final task comes at the end of the day when everyone is asked to reflect on the ways in which he/she filled buckets.

The students were rewarded with a “movie” of Daniel Tiger Sharing his Tigertastic car and popcorn at the end of February for reaching the goal of being bucket fillers in the preschool classrooms.
