Shakopee Community Education FAQ

  • Q. How do I find where my Community Education class will be held?

    Q. Do I need to be a Shakopee resident to register for a Community Education class?
    A. Absolutely not! Anyone may register for a class, event, or program offered through Shakopee Community Education. (However, Driver's Education students who live within the Shakopee school district boundaries will receive priority status when registering for this class.)

    Q. If I decide to cancel from a class I am registered for, can I get a refund?
    A. Refunds will be made only under the following conditions:
    1. If your class is filled to capacity before your registration is received.
    2. If your class is cancelled by Community Education.
    3. If you cancel your registration one week BEFORE the class begins, we will refund you the class fee, less a $5 processing fee.  No refunds will be given on or after the class/event start date.

    Q. How do I know if I am in a class once I have registered?
    A. If you provide us with an email address, you will receive an emailed confirmation. Otherwise, there will be no confirmations sent to you.Consider yourself registered for the class. You will be contacted only if the class is full or cancelled. Please include your daytime phone number on your registration.
     
    Q. How will I know if my class is cancelled due to severe weather?
    A. Cancellations that are due to inclement weather are announced on radio station WCCO, 830 on the AM dial.
     
    Q. Is there a discount for senior citizens?  
    A. Yes!  Senior citizens, ages 55 and up, can take one community education class per catalog for half prices, unless otherwise noted.  Certain classes such as Senior Driving classes, trips and tours are exempt from this discount.  Contact our office to verify which classes are eligible for the discount.
