Meet the Interim Superintendent
Gary Anger | Interim SuperintendentGary Anger is the Interim Superintendent for Shakopee Public Schools.
Previously he served as the Superintendent of Zumbrota-Mazeppa Public Schools in Mazeppa, MN where he was responsible for all leadership duties in the growing school district.
Under Anger's leadership, the Zumbrota-Mazeppa Schools rose to become one of the highest rated rural school districts in Minnesota.
Anger helped the Zumbrota-Mazeppa Schools become the first to institute WILD (Weather Impacted Learning Days) in lieu of snow days and the district was instrumental in passing E-Learning Days legislation in the 2017 legislative session.
The Zumbrota-Mazeppa district has also showed vast improvement and received high marks from families and community members in the Comprehensive School Climate Survey conducted by the National School Climate Center.
Prior to Zumbrota-Mazeppa, Anger was the Principal at Red Pine Elementary in Eagan from 2003 to 2015, adjunct professor at St. Mary’s University from 2008 to 2013 and the principal at Grey Cloud Elementary in Cottage Grove from 1999 to 2003.
Anger has also served as the Minnesota Elementary School Principals' Association South Suburban President as well as a member of the Southwest Area YMCA Community Board and Minnesota Department of Transportation Safe Route to School Task Force.Anger holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, Master of Arts in Instructional Technology, Principal Licensure, and Superintendent Licensure.His father, who passed away in 2015, was a Purple Heart Decorated Veteran who served in WWII, Vietnam and Korea. Anger's mother, Caterina Anger, is from Vicenza, Italy and lives nearby in Bloomington. His family moved to Bloomington, MN where he grew up with his two brothers. Anger's wife, Lori, is from Virginia, MN. Lori has worked in the St. Paul Schools and is currently a kindergarten teacher in Apple Valley.Anger has two daughters, Emily and Betsy. Emily recently graduated from the University of Minnesota and will be attending UMD this fall to attain her Masters in Speech Language Pathology.
