Shakopee Public Schools Families -
We are shocked and deeply troubled by the news of the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. As always, we want to work in partnership with you in helping our students navigate this challenging situation.
School should and must be a place where students are safe and secure. As an added precaution, our administrators and staff will be extra vigilant in the coming days. We are also working with our local law enforcement officials to have an increased police presence in and around our buildings for the next few days.
It is our goal to do our best to find the right balance in continuing to provide the best learning experiences for our students through the conclusion of the school year, while also being extra vigilant when it comes to school security, and making sure support is available for families and individual students who may be struggling with this particular situation. Counselors and related staff are available at each of our school buildings to assist students who may need this type of extra support.
We share in the heartbreak for the families who have lost a loved one due to this senseless act of violence. Please join us in keeping the students, staff and families of the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District in our hearts at this time.
