  • Saber Family Update

    January 29, 2024

    Shakopee Secondary Students and Families,

    It is with profound sorrow that we share an update concerning a student within our school community. We are saddened to communicate the passing of Evan Martin, a student at Shakopee High School, early this morning, as shared by his family with our district.

    This loss will raise many emotions for those that had the opportunity to connect with Evan throughout his life.

    Our district Crisis Team, which is made up of dedicated professionals trained to help with the needs of students, families and school personnel, will be present at the High School and various district sites throughout this period of mourning.

    The occurrence of another loss in our school community is unimaginable, and we are committed to exerting every effort to provide ongoing support to all students, staff and families.

  • Saber Family Update - January 17, 2024

    Shakopee High School Students and Families,

    It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Shakopee High School student, Mikayla McCarvel, as communicated late last night by her family on a public CaringBridge site. 

    This loss is sure to raise many emotions for those that had the opportunity to connect with Mikayla and her family throughout her life.

    Our district has a Crisis Team made up of dedicated professionals trained to help with the needs of students, families and school personnel during a difficult time such as this. This team will be present at the High School and various district sites throughout the week to support our school community as needed.

    We are extremely saddened by this loss and will make every effort to support our school community during this difficult time.
