The Board of Education governs Shakopee School District #720. The School Board also hires the Superintendent; approves staff hiring's, resignations, terminations and leaves of absence; sets the annual local school levy; approves expenditures; approves educational programs; and ensures proper facilities and equipment are available to support teaching and learning in the district. The School Board is also highly engaged with the community that they serve and their continual focus is on the educational success of our students, and continued growth of our school community.The seven board members are elected at large during the November general election in even-numbered years. In-Person Meeting Guidelines
Board work sessions and meetings are generally held on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 6 p.m. Board meetings are typically held in the Thrust Stage at Shakopee High School (100 17th Ave W); board work sessions are held at the District Office Board room (1200 Shakopee Town Square).
- All board meetings are open to the public.
- The board meeting agenda is posted at the district office on Friday afternoon prior to a meeting/work session.
- Board meeting minutes are posted in the public notice section of Shakopee Valley News and the website under 'Board Meetings' once approved.

Public Comment Participation
Form can be accessed here and hard copies are also available during each school board work session/meeting.
Each agenda includes a public comment section. The maximum time for public comment related to the agenda is a total of 15 minutes. Individual speakers will be allowed no more than 2.5 minutes. Please reference Shakopee Public School's Policy 206 for additional information. Public comment requests can be submitted to communications@shakopee.k12.mn.us no later than 5pm prior to the meeting. Additional public comment requests can be made onsite, the day of the meeting, starting at 5:30pm.
