New Classes Offer Support, Helpful Tips to High School Parents
NOVEMBER 1, 2019 - Shakopee High School received positive feedback from parents who attended new classes to learn about resources to help their student(s).
The classes were offered for the first time this year during parent conferences. and organized by counselors and admin in the Freshman Academy.
The classes, for 9th grade parents, covered a range of topics which included how to prepare students for college and tips for parents to assist their student(s) at the high school.
Out of those surveyed, 85% of parents found the classes very helpful, 92% of parents reported understanding the material “very well” in the HS 101 for Parents class, and 100% of parents who attended the Academic Resources & Tools class said they were “likely” or “very likely” to use the tools they learned.
