Governor Orders Temporary School Closures

Moments ago, Governor Tim Walz announced that all public schools in Minnesota will be closing for students Wednesday, March 18 through Friday, March 27. This closure is to allow the public schools time to plan and prepare to implement an extended distance learning program. Monday, March 30-Friday, April 3 is the scheduled Spring Break for Shakopee Public Schools. Spring Break will continue as originally scheduled.

Shakopee Public Schools will be prepared to offer distance learning beginning April 6. Should that be required, we will run our Connected Learning Days (CoLD) for as long as required, after this date.

Shakopee Public Schools will not be running regular school days on Monday, March 16 and Tuesday, March 17. Students are not required to attend school on March 16 or March 17. However, to help parents/guardians with additional time to prepare for the impending statewide shutdown that begins on Wednesday, March 18, Shakopee Public Schools will provide services to the best of our ability for E-12 students on Monday, March 16, and Tuesday, March 17 who choose to attend school. Bussing will be provided on Monday and Tuesday (March 16 and 17). Busing services will be suspended beginning March 18. Meals will also be provided to students at school on Monday and Tuesday.

The school district is planning to implement a food distribution plan beginning on Wednesday, March 18. More details on this plan, and other topics will be shared later.
