Shakopee Selects Secondary Co-Leader of LTE
Sarah Wehrenberg to Join the District

Shakopee Public Schools has selected Sarah Wehrenberg as the secondary (Grades 6-12) co-leader of the Learning, Teaching & Equity (LTE) Department, pending school board approval. Ms. Wehrenberg will be co-leading the Department alongside Nika Summer (former Shakopee Assistant Director of LTE), who was recently selected to be the E5 co-leader of LTE.
"I am thrilled to join the Shakopee Public Schools team and be a part of a community that is continually seeking innovative means to better serve each and every student,” shared Ms. Wehrenberg. “I’m looking forward to building strong partnerships and moving our district’s compelling vision forward."
Ms. Wehrenberg has nearly 20 years of experience in public education and is presently the Interim Executive Director of Core Academics & Instruction at Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS). She has served in MPS since 2018. Prior to her time in Minneapolis, Ms. Wehrenberg served in various secondary roles.
There were over 50 qualified applicants for this leadership position. Sarah Wehrenberg was selected after four rounds of interviews.
"Sarah Wehrenberg's unwavering dedication to student learning and collaborative spirit, coupled with her keen intellect and tremendous leadership skills, impressed our interview team," said Superintendent Mike Redmond. “I am extremely enthusiastic about the future of the LTE team and student learning in our district.”
Ms. Wehrenberg has a Master of Arts in Curriculum and an Educational Leadership Specialist Degree from Concordia University - St. Paul (Minnesota) as well as a Bachelor of Science degree from Bethel University (St. Paul).
Nancy Thul, Shakopee’s current Director of LTE, an instrumental leader who has been with the district since 2013, will be retiring effective June 30, 2024.
