Jeff Smith and his wife, Jenny, moved to Shakopee in 2001. They have two boys, both attending Shakopee High School.
Jeff is a graduate of Kennedy High School in Bloomington and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems from St. Martin's University. He has worked in the IT industry for over 25 years and is currently employed as a technology manager at Pearson, a global education company.
Jeff retired from the Army Reserve in 2015 after serving 27 years in the Army, Army National Guard and Army Reserve. His training and assignments took him around the U.S. and the world, including one year on the Korean DMZ and a year-long deployment to Iraq.
Jeff is an assistant coach for the Shakopee High School Mountain Bike Team, serves on the Shakopee Band Boosters and is a volunteer veteran mentor for Scott County.
Jeff enjoys motorcycling, bicycling, traveling, movies, music, reading and games of all kinds.
Jeff transitioned to the school board vice chair role on January 10, 2022.
